Life, Love and Trampolines

I am an impetuous person. So far in my life I have held 4 career-type jobs and I am 34. I like to start new things, but I have a hard time finishing them (notice the last post is in March!). I am someone who likes change, but I am never satisfied with it. We are on vacation and visiting my brother in Sexsmith, Alberta (you've heard of a goldsmith and a blacksmith...these guys work on something else here). They have a trampoline, this morning I noticed Nicky (my wife) lying on the trampoline soaking up the sun and I went and lay down beside her. We talked about life and love, and I really enjoyed the conversation. I said, "I could live in a small town like this," and we went on to discuss my need for change and new challenges. The ensuing conversation challenged me to consider something that I have been learning over the last few months. I need to learn to be faithful in the things that I do, not to always look for something new, I need to be content in the life th...

Weddings

This Saturday I was at two weddings...one that started at 11:30am and the other that started at 6:00pm. I have been to quite a few weddings, but I don't remember doing that before! It was an interesting day. The next day in church another couple that I know well got engaged. A couple months ago our church had at least one engagement announced each week for 7 straight weeks! All this makes me concerned for marriages...not that I am specifically worried for any of these marriages (congrats to Wes and Ashley, Kelly and Jeremy and Matt and Andrea by the way). So many marriages suck and/or end in divorce. I decided to pray as hard as I could at each wedding this Saturday during their vows (pretty weak, but it was what I could do at the time). Does anyone else have some suggestions on how we can help improve other people's marriages? We all know our own marriages are perfect.

WHY CAN'T YOU HEAR ME?!

I have often wondered why I get mad when someone can't hear me. For instance, if I yell downstairs to Nicky something like, "I AM JUST GOING OUT TO GET SOME GROCERIES, DO YOU NEED ANYTHING?" and she yells back, "...WHAT!" I will repeat myself only a little louder, if she doesn't hear this time, I start to get mad...at her! If I have to yell it a third time, I am now yelling out of anger. When I think about it logically, it makes absolutely no sense. If she can't hear me, why would I be mad at her? Does anyone else experience this?
